TAUSENDSCHÖN (2005-2008)
The capitol of France empties out in the summer. Politicians, bakers, secretaries, restaurant owners, all who can afford to leave the city and go on vacation. Here, where millions of tourists populate the streets every year, the real estate prices as well as rent have doubled since the mid nineties . More then 200.000 Parisians are living below the poverty level with less then 670 Euro/month.
"Paname" includes 3 series. The first depicts famous locations and sights up to a point where they become surreal decorations. The second series consists of panoramas, which show tourists, families, school classes and lovers. Within these the alert viewer can spot the homeless people and beggars, who are the second protagonist (besides Paris itself). Their portraits with Interviews build the 3rd part.
"Tausendschön" is an engaging discussion about a current issue: Poverty and Homlesness amidst affluent societies.
